The victim owner of the house, Sheela Parsekar, a resident of Navelim, told media persons that the culprits effected entry into the house when the family members had gone out at 8.30 am.
On their return, she said they were shocked to see the house completely ransacked. “The culprits may have effected entry into the house from the rear side through a ventilator,” the family members told the media. Sheela claimed that cash amounting to Rs 1.40 lakh was found stolen.
The culprits also broke open an almirah located in the bedroom and looted gold ornaments including mangalsutra, necklaces, bangles, earrings and rings, all in excess of Rs 12 lakh, the family members claimed.
PI C L Patil said, “We are questioning the suspect. We will crack the case.”
